Aufgrund des Direkteinspritz-Systems, bei dem der Kraftstoff direkt in den Brennraum eingespritzt wird, werden die Einlassventile nicht durch Kraftstoff gereinigt. Daher bilden sich Kohlenstoffablagerungen – ein Produkt der Öldämpfe des serienmäßigen PCV-Systems – an den Ventilen.

The RTMG Oil Catch Can kit can reduce the carbon build up on the intake valves up to 60%. The catch can also prevents oil pooling into the intercooler and intercooler hoses.
