Een veelvoorkomend probleem bij de TSI-motoren is koolafzetting op de inlaatkleppen. Door het direct ingespoten brandstofsysteem, waarbij de brandstof rechtstreeks in de verbrandingskamer wordt gespoten, worden de inlaatkleppen niet door brandstof gereinigd. Daardoor ontstaan koolafzettingen, een product van oliedampen uit het standaard PCV-systeem, op de kleppen.

The RTMG Oil Catch Can kit can reduce the carbon build up on the intake valves up to 60%. The catch can also prevents oil pooling into the intercooler and intercooler hoses.
